5 Cover Letter Mistakes That Cost You the Interview

While a great resume gets your foot in the door, a compelling cover letter seals the deal. Avoid these common pitfalls:

1. Repeating Your Resume

Your cover letter should tell a story that your resume can't. Don't just list your jobs again. Explain why you are passionate about the role.

2. Generic Greetings

"To Whom It May Concern" is outdated. Do your research and try to find the name of the hiring manager. If you can't, use "Dear Hiring Team".

3. Too Long

Keep it to one page, maximum 3-4 short paragraphs. Recruiters don't have time to read a novel.

4. Focusing Only on What YOU Want

The company is hiring to solve their problems, not to fulfill your career dreams. Focus on the value you bring to them.

5. Typos

A single typo can signal a lack of attention to detail. Always proofread!
